Lincoln's speeches in the 1860s are more poetic, poignant & sad, but the Lincoln speeches of the 1850s, when he was still in his 40s & making his name, always get me fist-pumping. They're combative, partisan, passionate, full of stirring history, bracing logic, & cutting sarcasm.
