I've long been an advocate for most sports getting rid of their unions. They made sense at a time, but now they just allow for CBAs that really limit the rights of their players.

A union that doesn't have a viable public relations strategy, especially in an arena this publicized, isn't going to be a very successful union for any member.

I don't think he's talking about minor league players here (e.g., people not a part of the MLBPA). I think he's talking about the pre-arbitration wage scale. I mean, Jeff McNeil & Pete Alonso are the Mets' best hitters and they're - combined - making less than Luis Avilan.

Further, since the average MLB career is fewer than six seasons (also the length of time for a player to become an unrestricted free agent), it would behoove the MLB to really focus on getting the pre-free agent players - half of their members - paid.
