The Democratic Party founded the Ku Klux Klan? How did they do that exactly? Did they establish it at a national convention? Or did the state parties fund chapters? How exactly did that happen? I've read just about every book on the Klan and this "fact" has eluded me. Do tell.

Why play with words? The Democrat “party” did not found it, but Southern Democrats did. You know this, but God forbid it changes your narrative.

The Klan from its founding was devoted to the destruction of the Republican Party in the South. One must split the slimmest of hairs to contend that this had nothing to do with the party it aimed to empower, to which its members belonged & led locally. eg https://www.thirteen.org/wnet/historyofus/web07/features/source/docs/C16.pdf …

C'mon Dan, you know better than to equate modern parties with 19th century actions and Kruse has consistently pointed out that the DP of the 19th century was a supporter of white supremacy.

The question on the table is about the 1868 Klan & the 1868 Democrats.
