It is. Herbert Hoover did so much for his country and gets little recognition for it today. I highly recommend a visit to his birthplace and library in West Branch, Iowa. The Quaker meeting house is inspiring.

I agree. Hoover was like Bill Gates if Gates had also had a successful career as an appointed government official. Coolidge derided him as “Wonder Boy,” but that is how most Americans saw Hoover before October 1929.

Obama. I don’t know a single American, regardless of ideology, who wasn’t proud of our nation on Election night 2008. There was tremendous hope that Obama could heal across race, ideology, and party lines. Instead, he was polarizing, vindictive, lawless, divisive, and corrupt.

I’d add “Obama: unifier” to the list. He really did have the potential to unify the country in 2009. Even those who didn’t vote for him recognized the significance of his election.
