I guess technically "we don't think Trump is actually going to declare himself a dictator and refuse to leave if he loses in 2020" is a defense of Trump, but it does say something that anyone has to address that charge.

It says a lot about the overall state of political discourse but also about Trump himself and his ability to troll people into overreacting & then use the overreaction to get people to defend him.
