I don't remember anyone making a case that the Supreme Court nominee was a verifiably childish a-hole, but whatever.

Yeah...Miers may or may not have been a great nominee, but she seemed to be a consummate professional. Not sure this analog works very well.

I'm one of the few people who really DGAF that Miers was nominated as was Bush's right and if she had conducted herself well during the confirmation hearings then she should have been a SCOTUS justice to this day.

Never Trump 2017-present appears to be the same ol’ hucksters and conmen looking for an easy payday by hiring out their services as “conservative” opposition to Trump

Miers didn’t attend the ‘right’ schools, etc

No record as a judge, no public scholarship, poor communications...basically no record of commitment to conservatism in either theory or practice.

It's not like mediocrity was foreign to the Court. I didn't support that nomination, but the snobbery it exposed stuck with many of us.

The Court, unlike the presidency, is an intellectual institution. I have no qualms being a snob about wanting Justices who are armed for the job.

Except she was entirely unqualified for SCOUTS, and Trump ended up picking her replacement Bush Staff Secretary.
