The problem is that players get underpaid relative to their value for their first 4-5 years. Unless teams are willing to balance that by overpaying them later, players get underpaid over their whole career. Unless owners reduce # of rookie/arb years, there will be a strike soon

I notice guys like Albies and Kingery have taken long guaranteed contracts before arbitration, just to get the sure thing. But they’ll be coming out of those deals at age 30-ish facing a tough market thanks to SABRmetrics-driven front offices.
