On CNN, I mentioned the role of American, British, and French forces in D-Day. I should have also mentioned the valiant role the Canadians played on D-Day.

I stand corrected about NZ. But the Aussies had a direct stake in the actions around Port Moresby.

Yes. Both were heavily engaged out of proportion to their populations. NZ infantry were seen as possibly the best soldiers of the war.

My point is that it was amazing and admirable that AU and NZ forces were so engaged in Europe and Africa when under threat from Japan.

played roles on D-day as well. For 2 countries with such small populations, the sacrifice they made in all the major conflicts is truly breathtaking. Lest we forget.
