If your knee-jerk response to invocations of 2,000 years of Catholic doctrine espoused by a billion-member worldwide church is "what about late 20th century American pedophile priests," you probably don't understand how Catholic doctrine works.

It's odd that you think the fact that allegations are still growing exponentially isn't reflective of broader issues w/in the church. The problem of abuse/cover-up is not confined to the late 20th century. Oh, and from the underlying report: http://www.usccb.org/issues-and-action/child-and-youth-protection/child-abuse-prevention/upload/2018-CYP-Annual-Report.pdf …pic.twitter.com/QHm9v9ZvbA

It's uh not exactly new, nor was it ever confined to America Danpic.twitter.com/FkV7dG5FeM

"Most of the REPORTED abuse occurred between 196o and 1990" 1. Reported. Duh. 2. If your response to that sentence is to assume abuse only escalated in the US during those years, then you probably don't understand how people and power works.
