I'm mostly not a fan of "let's do the character but with a different race/gender," but Batman's internal dramas - ambivalent about Gotham, estranged from the police, conflicted about his wealth while the city suffers - would map pretty well onto a black character.

That could be a very good movie in the hands of the right director/writer or a ham-fisted disaster in the hands of the wrong director/writer. Given Hollywood’s track record of late I’d bet on the latter. Intriguing concept, though.
