The car dealership I got my car from five and a half years ago seems increasingly incredulous that I have no desire to buy a new car and is sending me increasingly desperate "you used car is valuable!" emails and offers. Do people not keep cars for a long time anymore?

They're after my minivan, too. My dad kept cars for multiple decades, but the complexity of modern cars makes that harder to do.

My dad's '76 Chevy Malibu had a brick thrown through the rear windshield, holes in the floor & trunk, spikes sticking out of the seats. Kept running. I suspect the engine is now powering centrifuges in Central Asia or something.
