The Jefferson Davis Highway movement was a rather insidious plot by the Daughters of the Confederacy. The name serves no purpose beyond 1920s propaganda for racists and Confederacy apologists. Some of that was Lincoln, some was the Reconstruction amendments - but you can't do this in a vacuum. Lincoln faced existential war, & comparing to what Davis did to centralize federal power within the CSA is crucial context.
