No, no, no. Worse than your Kelly Clarkson take. The different social strata made Cheers work. Rebecca Howe was just a boss; Diane Chambers was a quasi-aristocrat and that made the dynamic (esp with Sam) much, much funnier.

The class dynamic worked at least as well with Frasier. And there's a reason why Kirstie Alley, Kelsey Grammer, Woody Harrelson & Bebe Neuwirth all went on to much better post-Cheers careers than Shelley Long.
