The argument keeps switching between "You see? The EC IS based on population so it IS majority vote, just not the vote the majority wants." which, is kinda BS on a flat level that such a large amount of power is in the hands of the EC and not the citizens vote, thats the baseline

For the record, don't think it really needs to be that complicated. National vote with a national ballot, with either RCV or runoff to ensure one candidate gets a majority. Brazil and Indonesia manage it with similar magnitudes of voter numbers.
