Good on the handful of Republicans that made the difference. But most supported Moore--including supposed grown-up economic-head Pat Toomey. No glory on Republicans here; just enough embarrassed by Moore's extra-curriculars to paper over fact they tolerated his economics.

They aren't just a "check", they run the entire show. Trump is just the media guy, a salesman performing the bait and switch. The queen of England has more power and influence. He's just a prop. A chaff for the media to chase.

It took how many months? They were both eminently unfit from the start, everyone knew it, Republicans were willing to ignore that, but finally couldn’t because of the very public vetting the Trump admin criminally neglected to do privately.

It’s true, Republicans do sometimes act as a check when Trump nominates stupid people. Occasionally — lots of completely unqualified judges have been confirmed. But not enough do on issues relating to racism, national security, or fair and democratic elections.

Fair point, but also fair to say GOP in Congress stands up to Trump too rarely.

Yes. But it's never framed in those terms. It's "everything is a fraud and you guys are all the same as Trump."
