They beat a man, John Loughlin, with a foot-long metal bar from Wise's house that Salaam carried in his coat. Loughlin ended up unconscious & his head "looked like it was dipped in a bucket of blood." https://www.thedailybeast.com/the-myth-of-the-central-park-five … https://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/ny-news-eric-reynolds-detective-central-park-20180713-story.html … https://www.wsj.com/articles/michael-f-armstrong-persistent-myths-in-the-central-park-jogger-case-1406674229 …https://twitter.com/shondarhimes/status/1123620394970148864 …

I don't understand when you cite the severity of the attack and then quote the tweet? The tweet is about the fact that justice was not served & people who were innocent of this violent crime were put away into jail for many years

Tweet describes them as innocent children, but this is not the crime they were exonerated of. There is no reason to doubt their guilt of the pipe attack on Loughlin.

WSJ piece is good but the other 2 aren't paywalled. It's one thing to argue the system got the rape case wrong, but I object to turning these actual, violent criminals into martyrs or heroes.
