I wasn't raised Catholic but spent time in a church w/ a similar standpoint. The problem w/ refusing to move is that we're learning things that contradict the *literal* validity of the Bible (global flood, etc). That literal view can get in the way of the good we otherwise see

The Church has been around for 2000 years. What separates it is what it teaches it what is what is always taught. I respect that. Note the death of the various progressive Protestant denominations who tried to change with the times.
