As much as single men under 30 have always loved these cars, I'd suspect the average age has always skewed older.https://twitter.com/TomBevanRCP/status/1121393168900132864 …

Still proud of getting a car for no money down, which I accomplished by having a Ford credit card for 5 years in college & law school. The Mystique (basically the Ford Contour) was my attainable-dream car at the time, a midsize sedan that wasn't as cumbersome as the Caprice.

First driven: my mom's early 1970s Volkswagen Super Beetle. I learned firsthand this car will not float. First owned: 1982 Buick Skyhawk. Ordered shortly before college graduation.

Hey Prof. In case you weren’t sure, I’m sure you are, a 1982 Buick Skyhawk won’t float either.

1963 Dodge pickup with a hole in the floorboards and a brake master-cylinder that had to be refilled regularly or the pedal would hit the floor. Paid for it hauling trash from local gas stations.

1990 - I paid $100 for my cousin’s old (80?)T-Bird. No A/C and the driver’s window wouldn’t go down. Good times in summer. I loved that car.

First driven: 1984 Buick Regal- my late grandfather’s car but only had it a few months before trading it for my uncle’s 1986 Saab 900. I loved that car and kept it until 2002. First owned: Mint green 1993 Ford Taurus. Had a sticky throttle so car idled at 45mph. Hated it.

1980 Chevy Chevette - 2 door hatchback with manual transmission and no A/C. (note: I live in TX) I got it when I graduated High School in 1983. I had to teach myself how to drive a stick before I could go anywhere. It was a beating of a vehicle, but I can still drive a stick.
