This, I disagree with. The fact that Trump won is fairly strong proof that any Republican could have won. Dan, it's not fair to inject actual data into a Twitter debate. But, the comparison to Toomey probably does deflate my argument b/c Toomey and Trump are polar opposites on trade and populist issues.

The complicating factor is that someone like Cruz or Rubio would probably have won some votes in Western Pennsylvania among voters who abandoned Toomey specifically over the gun issue (and vice versa in the Philly burbs).
