The comparison here is between "defend free speech" arguments that have nothing to do with formal government censorship, & secondary boycotts aimed at running media organizations out of business. Free association, not speech. Though naturally both the concepts of “assembly” and speech are referenced in the same Constitutional Amendment and have strong philosophical ties to each other.
