The comparison here is between "defend free speech" arguments that have nothing to do with formal government censorship, & secondary boycotts aimed at running media organizations out of business. Free speech is more than just the First Amendment's limitations on government censorship. If it dies as a social value, the formal legal structure will be of little use.
