Staying proportional too long is the flip side of the GOP front-loading WTA states. I also think the thresholds for qualifying for debates should escalate as the primaries go on, to force people out once they're no longer realistically playing to win. https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/should-gop-adopt-no-more-donald-trumps-rule-2020/ …https://twitter.com/NateSilver538/status/1117453053941121030 …

If I were designing a system, I'd have it staggered, so something like:
February states: 20% of delegates go to state winner; rest are proportional with a 15% qualifying theshold.
March: 40% winner take all
April: 60% WTA
May: 80% WTA
June: 100% WTA
