As much schadenfreude as I got from reading this, the reality is that the last point is wrong. A Trump re-election is not the end of the Democrats any more than Obama's re-election was the end of the Republicans.http://nymag.com/intelligencer/2019/03/2020-loss-to-trump-would-be-existential-crisis-for-democrats.html …

The two party system is remarkably resilient. The party that wins the 2020 election is almost certain to lose in either 2024 or 2028.

Yup! If Trump wins in 2020, then 2024 will be a sure Democrat win. If Trump loses in 2020, then the Dem will probably win reelection in 2024. setting up a GOP win for 2028. Consequently, if Trump wins in 2020, I wouldn't expect the GOP to win back the House until 2026.

If Dems win the presidency in 2020, then there is a good chance the GOP takes back the House in 2022.

If Trump wins in 2024 the Supreme Ct is safe for decades

Disagree. If fascism wins in 2020, goodbye two party system.

Of course. That is why we rarely see third presidential terms for any party; GHWB in 1988 was the first since FDR in 1940, and that year had a world war impending. Sitting VPs don’t have a great track record in succeeding their boss.

I’d settle for Trump winning in 2020 and letting the Dems win in 2024. By then SCOTUS would be solidly conservative.
