1. It's early, but let's talk electoral consequences. Obviously the #1 electoral consequence of any investigation is if it successfully nails its target, and #2 is the cloud of an ongoing probe. But what about when one ends without the scalp?

8. The other obvious outcome: it'll be a *lot* harder not only to beat Trump in a primary (always a longshot) but even now to recruit a vaguely plausible challenger.

I was answering you live. These voters you speak of are WOMEN!!! 0% is your answer. They voted against him because they find him loathsome. How could you not mention that? You are often wrong, but never unsure.

Dan, great analysis, but I think you're missing a key factor. Dems seem inclined to continue pushing collusion. The base loves this, but should alienate moderate and independent voters.

I think you’re making this too complex. These voters just don’t like him. But if they dislike or fear the alternative more, some may still vote for him.

I think it's a mix. For some people, it's more personal (esp women). For others, it's more about mistrusting him to run the show. It's the latter who are more reachable.

Would it've really made much difference last November if this month's news from Mueller had come out last October? There's actually very little real news here esp when we've really just got Barr's opinion & educated suburbanites would know that.
