Booker is probably the best friend Bernie has in this race - the longer he stays in, the harder it is for Harris, Beto or even to some extent Biden to consolidate the voters they need.

What we don't know yet is who fills the Bachmann/Christie role of flacking for the frontrunner by attacking whoever stands in their way on the debate stage. My likeliest nominee for that role would be Castro, or maybe Gillibrand.

Where Biden has an advantage over Bernie is that unlike Bernie or anyone else in the field, Biden doesn't need to build a winning coalition, he just needs to re-assemble one. Doesn't mean he'll succeed, but it helps.

Biden would be basically running a "get things back to normal" campaign. That's worked 4 times since 1900 (2000, 1976, 1968 & 1920), but it is a fundamentally conservative theme - only one of those (Carter) was a Democrat. Not what typically inspires D voters.

Counterpoint. That Emerson pull of 250 potential Iowa caucus goers is complete crap.
