Wages aren’t profits.
I do not think the distinction is as sharp as you draw it, and where it is, it frequently works against the consumer. Are pharmaceuticals, in your view, not commodified? That may better illustrate how you are definng the term.

In some cases, the issue is quite clear cut. Markets are just a human made institution—they are not trans historical. They are appropriate or effective in some instances and not in others. I’d direct your questions about pharmaceuticals to
@DeanBaker13 who has some good ideas. -
Nor are “consumers” the only category we fall under. We are also workers/community members/family members/citizens. I don’t wish to leave issues of childhood immunizations, for example, to each “consumer.”
