I'll never understand the mindset that leads supposedly self-respecting intellectuals to brag about muting or blocking people who have significant writing/speaking platforms in the world of ideas just because they don't like being argued with. Really a confession of weakness.

I haven't "a lot of followers", and you've been fair to me, precisely b/c I try to keep it about facts and ideas.

In response to "what's the harm" some would ask, what's the point? There are many folks on twitter (regardless of size) who are intrigued by debate. Then there are those who are here to agitate, not educate (eg., Media Matters). They're here to fling feces and hope some sticks.

True. But once you pass about 10,000 followers, it becomes pointless to have the same argument with 50 different people making the same point to their 400 followers.
