Of course, if you were Never Trump in 2016, you should still consider the reasons why to be important after that. But by 2020, if he's still on the field, the decision will factor in 4 years in office of additional information.

As a conservative I fall into the last paragraph category, and am content to live there. Policy doesn't enter the equation for me. Trump's total amoral behavior is an ever spreading stain on the American flag and no policy he ever enacts will serve as enough Tide stain remover

But you don’t question the morals of many, many more in Congress? He’s certainly not the only one in DC with bad morals

Of some Never Trumpers. I don't think he speaks for most.

Well, the people adopting the term were never an organized or cohesive group. I think Phil's is the understanding of most of the people in my circles: the movement conservatives, the Christian social conservatives, the legal conservatives.

How many truly "adopted a posture of being in constant opposition to Trump" and how many just had their true colors exposed by it? Because some have taken it so far, you gotta wonder.

There's an obvious difference between claiming some Trump/Trump admin action or policy is good, vs claiming that it reflects well on the motives and character Trump himself or those of his administration. Compare: my broken clock gets no praise for being right twice a day.

This is BS. Because he did some "pro conservative" things that a trained monkey could do, he should be embraced? His characterless actions ignored? His no ethics approach to the office ignored? His implied bigotry? His TWO $$ TRILLION OF DEBT ADDED? His love for dictators?

I could totally have seen a President Romney withdrawing Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination. And W grew the debt faster.

The problem with "praising the good, criticizing the bad" is Trump's unique ineptitude, making him dangerous. A guy can bring a bottle of wine to my party, but if he shits in the punch bowl, he's never welcome. Trump punch bowl dumped years ago.
