Is the private sector in America not greatly dependent on public subsidies as well? For instance subsidies for agriculture and manufacturing?

I don't know what this means. Academia is certainly inefficient. But why would they price as if there were no subsidies when there are subsidies?

Education is not a product. And I’m talking about bureaucracy and dealing with procurement and IT. But sure, don’t let context or details get in the way of your ever-compelling point.

Efficiency is about a lot of different things, so broad generalizations that academia is more efficient than the private sector are unhelpful. Is it a product? If you give it to people in exchange for money, it's a product.
