No, but it is often a mistake with lifelong consequences. My dad left St. Joe Missouri which is one of those places.
Indeed it is not, overall. My point is just that it can be - as it is in my parish - death to particular local Catholic communities. This discussion is about localities, not the Church writ large.

Only if immigrants are less likely to be Catholic than any other demographic that could plausibly be replacing your local outgoing Catholics. Presuming the immigrants are from Latin America, that doesn’t seem likely.

They are not. Immigrants to that part of Queens are mostly Asian, mainly Chinese. (In fact, new Asian immigrants have outnumbered Latin American immigrants to the USA every year for the past decade).
