Prediction: Apple's ubiquitous iMessage-based inter-device pairing (AKA 'handoff') heralds a sea change in how all our devices communicate.
@matthew_d_green aren't there several other protocols attempting similar things (e.g. Axolotl, Cap'n Proto)?

@bascule Establishing frictionless ad-hoc connections between your phone, laptop and TV? I don't think so. -
@matthew_d_green I just meant the generic concept of session/capability handoff. Clearly Apple has executed it better at this point -
@bascule I think at this point only Apple has executed it, period. It's about more than protocols. You also need a CA, device support. -
@matthew_d_green I have always liked the way my Apple devices play well together, at least when they're actually working -
@matthew_d_green things are still harder and more frustrating than I'd like them to be, and I spent 5 years of my life working on digital TV -
@bascule If my car unpairs with my phone one more time, one of the two is going back. -
@matthew_d_green@bascule you know, being a pedestrian has its good sides.
