@bascule would it be ok with you if you could only send primitive data types with dcell? Arrays, hashes, strings, numbers etc.

@bascule right now you are limited to a specific ruby implementation and a specific patchlevel at worst. But you can send custom objects. -
@bascule have taken a look at capnproto, zeromq batches messages by default so protobuff shouldn't be slower. -
@bascule to make it even more simplistic, msgpack should work too.
