Go people seem to share a "There I Fixed It" attitude towards data races
,@evanphx so yeah, I really think this is a systemic problem with Go people who fail to even understand the problem

@bascule I don't see the Go solution so I'm not sure what part you're criticizing. -
@evanphx can you see the comments on this post? http://carol-nichols.com/2014/07/14/ruby-rust-concurrency/ … -
@bascule I'll assume the main criticism is scope capture and mutation across concurrency units, which yeah, Go lets you do but you shouldn't -
@evanphx I feel like it takes a compiler to understand the lifetime of data in a concurrent program and Go et al punt on that problem -
@bascule Rust is the one true light in the universe eh? -
@evanphx lol no, but compiler errors are a step above "doctor it hurts when I do this"

@bascule To me, I worry that Carol seems to have not figured out how to solve the problems the right way in Rust though. -
@evanphx true enough, and the comments are also leading her in the wrong direction -
@bascule I'm so confused why you see more than 1 comment. -
@evanphx lol it's all the same comment. Maybe I should just respond directly ;) -
@bascule@evanphx Or via Twitter. I find that@carols10cents is prolific on the twitters. -
@Carols10cents@erniemiller@bascule Hi Carol! Did you figure out a solution? - 6 more replies
