@bascule interiorizing the abstractions and solving problems with them is the hard/needs time part in my view, notation is great

@fxn clearer notation lets you get up-to-speed more easily on the layers and layers of abstractions -
@bascule neverrheless, in case you're in a crypto context, in my experience cryptographers are really bad at math and notation -
@fxn well, I am in a cryptographic context, but I'm wondering about GF(p) where p = 2^255 - 19 ;) -
@bascule ahhh, exactly, in general the books I've seen and the Coursera course are just... I couldn't stand it I quit the course -
@fxn well, this is just basic finite field math, but the underlying math/group theory is actually quite involved

@bascule@CastIrony So much of my college math education was me getting lost in symbols. -
@erynofwales@bascule The weird thing about math is that at a certain point it's mostly just memorizing vocabulary.

@bascule@counternotions Intriguing conjecture. The same could be said of regex. -
@TheAllBox Who writes regex by hand?!@bascule

@bascule possibly related to how painful it was to write in the early days, as well as scarcity of paperThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
