@KirinDave "FP is hard"
@ReinH @KirinDave do you think I dreamed this viewpoint up or can you acknowledge it not only exists but is prevalent in the FP community?

@bascule@ReinH@KirinDave As much as I see OOP bashing in FP, I see OOP devs dismissing FP out-of-hand. Neither approach benefits us. -
@mxavier@ReinH@KirinDave once upon a time I made an FP language and just got back from Strange Loop. Does that description fit me? -
@bascule Reia? Functional? -
@KirinDave functional has One True Definition, of course. OOP is a totally meaningless and incomprehensible term -
@bascule@kirindave Again with this bullshit. Stop trolling. Jesus christ. -
@ReinH@bascule@KirinDave he's Tony, what are you expecting, really? at least on Twitter. -
@ReinH@bascule@KirinDave makes one wonder how smart said person is.

@bascule@kirindave I acknowledge that it exists. I don't agree that it's worth engaging with if your goal is to teach and learn. -
@bascule@kirindave I also see the same dogma in OO. I just don't think it's useful to engage and prefer to assume good-faith. -
@bascule@kirindave OO and FP can learn from each other if they have a real dialog. Dogma, straw men and caricatures don't help either side. -
@bascule@kirindave I could further argue that there aren't "sides" to begin with and that we're on provably equivalent teams but zzzzz... -
@ReinH@bascule@KirinDave Indeed. Just need a program to convert OO programs to FP programs and vice versa. That should satisfy everyone!
