Anyone have opinions on Kafka versus Apollo?
@kenkeiter I've been evaluating Kafka and Apollo and AFAICT they have similar feature sets/perf. I guess the question is... why pick Kafka?

@bascule Kafka feels lighter-weight to me than Apollo; I like the optional use of Zookeeper for config, as well. Although ZK is bad ops-wise -
@kenkeiter I am quite reluctant to ask our ops people to deploy ZK but I see a bunch of uses for it -
@bascule TBH I'd say that Doozerd is the way to go if you need coordination and don't have ZK already deployed. Avoid deploying ZK, for sure -
@kenkeiter people actually use Doozer? o_O -
@bascule It looked pretty good to me -- and Heroku wrote/loves it. Thoughts?

@bascule I'd imagine it comes down to whether you'd use any of the additional features that Apollo would provide (ssl, websocks, etc) -
@kenkeiter we already have Apollo deployed. That's a huge consideration for me... -
@bascule Oh, well in that case there's no question in my mind: use Apollo. Kafka is not going to be /easy/ to roll out in production.
