@jamesgolick @ryanlecompte we deal with the many failure modes of Redis on an almost daily basis, FWIW

@bascule@ryanlecompte I'm sure you do. That is not a counter-point. -
@jamesgolick@ryanlecompte we have Redis HA in place using floating IPs… it seems to work ok

@bascule I read "many failure modes of Redis on almost daily basis", since you are an exception about this we can help for sure if you ask -
@antirez switching to hiredis helped a lot with failure detection. I'll hit you up if there's something specific we need help with -
@bascule is that hiredis as C library directly or the Ruby extension? Thanks -
@antirez using the hiredis backend of redis-rb as opposed to the pure-Ruby version -
@bascule this is interesting, I was not aware that hiredis caused a difference other than in the performances area /cc@pnoordhuis -
@antirez@pnoordhuis timeouts were completely broken in the pure Ruby version -
@bascule@pnoordhuis if this is still true with redis-rb 3.0.0 it's probably safer to add a warning ASAP if not used with hiredis loaded. -
