@bascule I disagree. The {count}{action}{target} grammar still holds up well
FWIW, I’ve been using vi(m) for 17 years. vi was great over a 9600 baud modem but its usefulness seems outmoded today. Even Bill Joy agrees

@gregvaughn how frequently do you actually count higher than 2? Thatsaid, “.” is the best ;) -
@bascule Granted, the count is not the most frequently used part. And I use a mouse with MacVim -
@gregvaughn was trying MacVim, but vim sessions are a pain in my fucking ass, and Emacs motion commands work ubiquitously in OS X and shells -
@bascule@gregvaughn what are these "sessions" you are going on about? Seriously I don't know what that is. -
@davetron5000@gregvaughn the ability to restore all the tabs/buffers/panes in the exact state I left off in so I remember what I was doing -
@bascule@gregvaughn that would drive me insane. I prefer immutable state :) -
@davetron5000@gregvaughn I’d call sessions/projects the secret sauce to juggling a lot of projects semi-successfully ;)

@bobbywilson0 I’m using all the defaults. I’m a fan of convention over configuration ;) -

@bobbywilson0 I’d probably prefer modernness and clarity to a “vintage” mode

@bascule I'M SORRY FOR GIVING YOU SHIT ABOUT YOUR EDITOR!!! also: who's Bill Joy?#trollface -
@slyphon Bill Joy wrote vi (and BSD and csh, and cofounded Sun) -
@bascule i know i know, i was trolling. vim is Bram's gig, though. (I have a hard time with straight-up BSD 'vi') -
@slyphon troll was successful, lol
