@luislavena long story short, I'm just trying to compile a shared library in a portable manner, then make a Ruby FFI wrapper around it
@postmodern_mod3 @luislavena I think I'm just gonna make an MRI cext and a JRuby extension and call it good ;)

@bascule@luislavena if you really want to package a C library with FFI bindings, I can find an example of that. If not, whatevs :) -
@postmodern_mod3@luislavena gonna just roll with a cext and rake-compiler -
@bascule@luislavena go for it. Let us know how it works over time. -
@postmodern_mod3@luislavena it's been working fine with nio4r -
@bascule@luislavena cool! so what prompted you to investigate FFI? -
@postmodern_mod3@luislavena not having to do separate implementations for CRubies and JRuby... but being pure Java on JRuby is nice

@bascule@luislavena alright, but maintaining two separate implementations can get complex. -
@postmodern_mod3@luislavena it's fine ;) and there won't be any native dependency to worry about on JRuby
