(The 18 minute figure was given to me back then as an average; can't vouch for its accuracy. Also NAT probably mitigates the damage a bit.)

Based on my, unscientific, experience with connecting Windows computer to the dorm LAN, it was less that 18 minutes and NAT didn't help.
