    The responses to Rauch defending Boot defending the foreign-policy establishment of which they’re both a part are hilarious. And Rauch’s failures aren’t just logical; they’re also empirical. But nothing will ever shake the self-confidence of America's failed elites.

    Smart from , but I differ on one point: no matter what's next, Afghanistan was not a "terrible waste." It bought 20 years--a whole generation--of homeland security, easily worth the cost.
