I know I can be overly literal, but I hope this guy doesn’t really believe the Pentagon and Wall Street are the heart of American democracy

The responses to Rauch defending Boot defending the foreign-policy establishment of which they’re both a part are hilarious. And Rauch’s failures aren’t just logical; they’re also empirical. But nothing will ever shake the self-confidence of America's failed elites.

If you haven't read any , let me tell you: it's a rich treasure trove of interlaced characters and plot lines across MULTIPLE novels. Very satisfying for demanding readers who can never get enough of great work.

"TV rehabilitation of the idiots who got America into the Afghan mess was so conspicuous that it became a late-night punchline...If we properly identified [their] sponsors, a lot more of what America does at home and around the world would make sense."
