A debate about the most contentious subject in the world: PARENTING!
Featuring ("Hunt, Gather, Parent"), ("Selfish Reasons to Have More Kids"), and ("How to Stop Losing Your Sh*t With Your Kids").
Conversation
Annoyed by the NPR journalist saying that Americans spanked more viciously than parents around the world, who spank “more gently”. I work with people from all over the world and have had many convos about parenting. I’ve heard over and over variations of “My parents *beat* me.”

Good people relative to what? By whose standard? By what measure? Who has gifted her/himself with objectivity?
Excellent discussion and relationship fodder for “date night” if such a thing still exists. Hoping there are more parenting topics on the horizon. Good bipartisan topic.

Loved this podcast but totally disagreed with Brian. Do not let your kid cry themself to sleep at 3 months! They still need to eat around the clock at that age. Maybe try it past the age of 1.

Also, his answers were typical of a dad. Moms do most of the work (obviously this will be a different dynamic for you, Bari) When the women were talking about how hard it is & Bryan was basically like "Everything is magical"... Sorry, parenting is HARD.

Our society, and certainly my life, is not compatible with the “it takes a village or community” to raise kids. My parents are elderly/deceased, my partner’s parents live across the country, we have virtually no helpful extended family and friends have their own responsibilities.
Love your podcast, in general. This one on parenting, however, is classic overthink.

Interesting and lively discussion. Totally agree that sleep is important for parents and that’s why I disagree with the presenters about the Snoo. My partner and I have 4 children between us and we only had the Snoo for the youngest one and it made a huge difference in our sleep!
