  13. These trees are the Colombia variety (variety is named after the country itself). Popular for disease resistance and high yield. Dense.

  14. In Acevedo thru Wednesday cupping to judge a regional competition for producers. This is where we cup. Tasted 29 yesterday, narrowed to 12.

  15. More from Finca La Acacias yesterday. Raised drying has many advantages, including keeping chickens off your coffee.

  16. On Tuesday, we cup the 10 best lots and select a winner for the Acevedo Cup. It’s a lot of samples — this is Eduardo, who roasts them all.

  17. Another 29 coffees today, narrow to 12 again. Those 24 lots selected between 2 days re-cupped Monday to narrow contest to 10 lots.

  18. New wet mill on left being built next to the old. New mill will give better capacity for flotation tanks to skim lower density coffees.

  19. Internet access again, in Acevedo, Colombia this morning. Finca La Acacias, run by Wilmer & Monica Cuellar.

  20. Good weekend for checking out a new coffee. Pacamara Single Bag Lot (Guatemala) & Kochere (Ethiopia) both new & !
