There are 140 million poor & low wealth people in America. Without an accurate assessment, we are participating in a policy coverup. If we don't acknowledge poverty, we are refusing to call on these witnesses among us. This is a moral crisis. This is the state of our union.

"...it’s true that the only way Puerto Ricans have survived is through the compassion the community has shown to each other. Trust in local government & the federal govt is low. Faith in fellow Puerto Ricans is high, but how long does that have to last?"

With all due respect, you've got to be kidding me. Puerto Rico's Attorney General says it could take 2 to 3yrs to determine whether a crime was committed regarding disaster aid held at a warehouse in Ponce, Puerto Rico that wasn't immediately distributed after earthquakes started

Yesterday, during the Macmillan meeting, some Oprah ppl insisted that she has chosen Latinx writers for her club, stressing Gabriel Garcia Marquez. In reply, I grunted, "He's dead."

An AL woman shot a man who’d just raped her. She shot him as he choked her brother, who’d just arrived to help. 48 hrs later, she was charged with murder. Today, she lost her Stand Your Ground Hearing. In Al, women rarely win.

When Rosa Parks refused to give up her bus seat, she set in motion one of the largest movements in history, the Montgomery Bus Boycott. Happy Birthday to the mother of the civil rights movement and may she forever rest in power.

I really appreciate that said every American, and not every woman. Those tiny differences in language are actually a huge deal when it comes to being inclusive of trans men and gender nonconforming folks.

Being forced to watch melodramatic “good” white people perform their electability anxiety as they caucus is just something I resent so deeply. White supremacy got us here and, LOL, we’re forced to depend on white supremacy to... find a white candidate that can get us out? Bravo.

Should go without saying: reporters of color shouldn't have their jobs threatened for speaking out about mainstream media failures to properly cover and contextualize issues of race. What's the point of bringing diverse experiences and voices into a room only to muzzle them?

Gretchen Brown-Waech is deaf. She reads lips, but went to caucus for the first time in the 1990s, but left early because there were so many people speaking at once it was overwhelming. She didn't caucus again until 2016. Tonight she's hosting the first-ever ASL caucus

Emmanuel Smith uses a wheelchair had to travel over an hour each way to caucus in 2016. Now, they're hosting a satellite caucus in the common area in his apartment building. But they the burden shouldn't be on him to create an accessible caucus.

This seems like a good time to re-up my THREAD from Sept 2019 on Trump's real record on "criminal justice reform" and the passage of the First Step Act. If you had time to watch Trump's commercial, you have time to read the thread.
