All "journalists" need to understand this: Treat people with respect, and they will be respectful. But insult someone and prepare to be insulted back! And no, employees of media corporations aren't exempt from standards of civility. We're all equal, all citizen journalists now.

Btw, here's the editor of TheInformation gently trying to explain to Lorenz that her initial drive-by assault on (who has less than 8k followers and was just talking to her friends!) didn't actually include any arguments.

I don't fully agree with @stephkorey on the media but this this totally coherent. I don't think she's saying that every reporter just wants to drive clicks. She's talking about a very real dynamic in the news business. What did you think showed 0 understanding?

Here's their MO: - "journalist" attacks someone - you defend them - "journalist" omits their original attack - ...and pretends they're the victim! - then tries to go after your job or company This doesn't affect me at all. But this is what they do to you.

To summarize: - Every citizen is now equal to a journalist - Every company is now a media company - There are no double standards anymore - And should apologize to If you treat people with respect, you'll be treated with respect. And conversely.

Oh, by the way, NYT just tried to doxx Scott Alexander last week. That's why many tech people are boycotting them. Employees of media corporations will often distort you if you talk to them. Just go direct if you have something to say.

The New York Times tried to doxx Scott Alexander for clicks. Just unsubscribing won’t change much. They can afford it. What will is freezing them out. By RTing #ghostnyt you commit to not talking to NYT reporters or giving them quotes. Go direct if you have something to say. twitter.com/webdevMason/st…

Highly recommend Mike Cernovich's new documentary, Hoaxed. Some unsavory characters on it, but largely spot on re: MSM's incentives and warmongering.

I don't know much about this specific topic, but I wish there was a website / app / service where journalists' actions related to story reporting, how accurately sources feel their words were reported, etc, were tracked. It is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to keep up anymore!
