The Vox Doctrine Media companies are profiting from a crisis they helped create. Vox/Recode dismissed the pandemic, scorned precautions, told you not to wear masks, even attacked philanthrophy! Now they're setting traffic records. Need citizen journalism, not corporate media.pic.twitter.com/54jGxWE3yT

Incredible. Last week I called out a journalist who I thought was writing a piece that would be a disservice to public health. Unfortunately, my concerns proved well-founded. Recode’s virus piece ignores WHO & CDC, gets the science wrong…and focuses on handshakes! Thread: 🧵 pic.twitter.com/fnxOmRL7j5

Let's be clear, Teddy & Anand's business model is attacking charitable giving. You get less masks so they get more clicks.https://twitter.com/Jason/status/1247685141654192128 …

To @ezraklein @mattyglesias @karaswisher, the ethical thing to do would be: - Retraction - Resignation - Donation Formally retract all false articles, do not delete them. Resign from your posts. And donate 28% of your net worth to help fix the catastrophe you helped create.

To me it's more like they've weaponized it. I'm pro philanthropy, but I'm far more pro-accountability. Anand's critiques of the culture around big philanthropy are largely right as is evidenced by Purdue for example. But Vox has made money giving mostly bad takes.

*a lot of* not mostly. Qualifiers are important. Whereas the critique behind many of the general reason for skepticism is justified, Vox basically bullshits by using these critiques in the wrong context for the sake of it.

Yeah we can do tht. But also if you read something it's a net benefit(diy masks) you want to tell people. Similarly if something is a net harm, you also want to tell people? I mean one does want to live in a society where there is continuing pressure applied both ways. No?

Giridharadas did not "attack" Jack's charity. If you have to blatantly lie from your high-horse in order to make your point persuasive, you are part of the problem. You even said "Let's be clear," and then proceeded with a bald-faced lie.
