It truly is amazing just how poor McConnell’s speech read after Romney’s. It was predicated entirely on Republicans being unanimous on acquittal. It was amazingly ill-fitting given the circumstances.

“It’s like saying you’re so worried about a bull in a china shop that you want to bulldoze the china shop to chase it out,” Sen. McConnell says, in reference to Democrats’ effort to remove Trump in accordance with the constitutionally mandated procedure.

Historical note: 's vote to remove President Trump from office will make this the first bipartisan vote to remove a president from office in US history. It will fail, as with Johnson and Clinton, but no Democrats voted to remove those two Democratic presidents.

To the Jacobins in the Republican Party seeking Romney's expulsion (including the president's son), please remember that he won 60,933,504 votes as your presidential candidate in 2012. Have some dignity. Show some respect. Agree to disagree.
