Back then, it felt like FOREVER between the TVM and McGann FINALLY joining Big Finish... and yet it was within the timeframe that he'd still have been playing the Doctor on TV, if it had gone to series😵‍💫 Your perspective of time really changes with age.

It was bad enough when I recently rewatched the Big Finish Talks Back DVD, recorded after McGann's second 'season', where he realises that, if the TV movie had been picked up, he'd still be in the US filming his sixth season.

Long story short: recently I've been feeling kinda nostalgic for the early days of the 8th Doctor at Big Finish, which led me to read a review of their recent Charlotte Pollard set, where I came across this sentence, and 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱
Screenshot of some text. It reads, "Overall: A glorious return for the Eighth Doctor and Charley, and a wonderful dose of nostalgia for their early adventures together (not that I can remember them — this reviewer wasn't even born when they first came out!!!)"

40? I did this by 30. Plus, now I don't have "home Ibuprofen" anymore, I have kitchen Ibuprofen, bathroom Ibuprofen, and bedroom Ibuprofen. ...why are you looking at me funny?

By time you’re 40 you should have home Ibuprofen, car Ibuprofen, and work Ibuprofen.

Many people seem to love the current logo. I don't get it. To me it feels thin & weak & insubstantial. Plus, the weird throughline — which starts on the D, where it has no reason to be, then disappears til the H — means if you split the logo onto 2 lines it looks fucking awful.

What is your favourite Doctor Who logo out of the ones below ? #DoctorWho

"the feast of steven was never even aired outside of the uk so they had to commission animators to make a recreation of the episode" Looking forward to The Feast of Steven Blu-ray release that only this guy knows about.

This is my most favourite least favourite tweet ever: "they’re from like 60s so they were never available online" This is just how young people see the world, isn't it? There is The Internet, and there is Before.

Stumbled across the most hilarious thread about #DoctorWho missing episodes. Why are episodes missing? "they just are." Alternatively, "bbc left the film cannisters in a warehouse somewhere and they just degraded basically." "Basically" here meaning "not at all what happened".

You get some weird stuff on Fesshole. Weird because, if this were me, I wouldn’t feel the need to be anonymous while venting about the stupidity.

Got unnecessarily annoyed today when i asked for a "large coffee" at the Café inside 'The Range' shop. The women serving said "they only serve small or medium". Surely if you only serve 2 size's then it's small or large. Medium can only be a middle option!

Official Doctor Who Twitter account focuses on actor's contributions to Doctor Who 😲
A pair of tweets. The first is from the official Doctor Who Twitter account and says: "We're sad to report the passing of David Warner, who appeared in Cold War in 2013. He was also known for playing his own incarnation of the Doctor with Big Finish." There's a photo of Warner holding a sonic screwdriver. Second, a reply from account I've anonymised. They write, "Spreading him a bit thin, aren't you? He has a filmography that puts most people's life accomplishments to utter shame."
Futurama "I'm shocked. Shocked! Well, not that shocked..." meme

The great thing about Doctor Who fans is they will talk with Absolute Authority on something they have maybe 15% knowledge about. (Actually, in fairness, I think social media has shown that most people are like that.)

My timeline today is literally just people not understanding what streaming rights are
Doing my usual "how is it 9pm already?!" thing. 36 summers on this planet and I still can't get used to it being light after about 7pm.
Don't think I've actually rewatched this since it was first broadcast. At the time I thought it was Not Bad, at best. After nearly 15 years of people going on about it being one of Who's best stories, I really ought to give it another spin 😅

Silence in the Library is incredible because even putting aside the genius set up of River Song, there’s the amazing setting, the terrifying antagonist, the heartbreaking subplot for Donna, and phenomenal character work for the Doctor. One of the greatest TV scripts of all time.

So the real question is, who's the bigger weirdo: me for following a few threads for a bit & liking some tweets against an idiot (bit obsessive, maybe); or the guy who bothers to check who's liking anti-him tweets and blocks them...

Aww, I was having fun 'liking' all the tweets calling out some Tory dipshit (who was off on one in reaction to the RTD speech). Didn't tweet anything at him, no obvious reason I'd know I was 'there'... but he must've been hyperattentive, cos he blocked me 😂

Currently addicted to buying old #DoctorWho books — filling gaps in my New Adventures, EDAs, and DWM graphic novel collections left, right and centre. I've bought more NAs off eBay in the past fortnight than I did when they were brand-new back in the '90s!

When I first heard the Mo story, I almost tweeted something like "Guess they're gonna deport him to Rwanda now" as a joke, because *of course* they're not going to want to send Sir Mo Farah to Rwanda. But no, turns out some do want to. Conservatives are literally beyond a joke.

Conservative woman’s first thought upon hearing that #MoFarah was trafficked as a child. A deep, incurable sickness.

1: The Aztecs 2: so many Cybermen 3: Terrance Dicks (spans many eras, really) 4: Baker's voice 5: Caves of Androzani 6: Trial of a Time Lord using the same cliffhanger for about 11/14 episodes 7: unpopular stories that are actually masterpieces (Paradise Towers, Happiness Patrol)

I read the replies expecting a bit of fun “what if?”-ing, only to find I quite vehemently disagreed with a lot of suggestions 😳 I guess most stories are the length they need to be, imo. That said, Nightmare in Silver was originally meant to be a 2-parter, so I’d say that one.

Is there a single Doctor Who episode you think would’ve worked better as a two part story?
Context: both these tweets were replies to a newspaper 'story' about Ncuti Gatwa having a "suspicious cigarette" tucked behind his ear in an Insta photo. Anyway: lol
First tweet is an old newspaper story about Matt Smith being spotted "rolling and puffing on a... suspicious-looking cigarette". The second tweet says, "Would they have suggested the cigarette looked 'suspicious' if the actor was white? They absolutely would not have done."
Given the current discourse, I think this interview with Steven Moffat offers a good insight into being #DoctorWho’s showrunner in the public eye.

Steven Moffat is not the right wing bigot you think he is, A thread. None of these things mean he's never said or written anything problematic (he has), but they'll give you a more accurate picture of his politics than reheated tumblr discourse and ooc quotes from a decade ago.

This seems to be happening to me every bloody day at the minute. “Right, it’s about 6pm,” I think, only to look at a clock and realise it’s nearly 8 already. And it’s amazing how much one feels like “loads of the day left” and the other like “nearly time for bed!”

I am not built for summertime light. It still being so bright out at 8pm just throws my body clock off — it should be 6pm right now, at the latest.
There’s a bit in the latest that implies have made the equivalent of 14 seasons starring the 8th Doctor, and at first I laughed at the exaggeration, but then I did the maths and, yeah, kinda works out. I’ve got some catching up to do.
I've never had a Gregg's vegan sausage roll, but I nonetheless feel like this applies to most stuff I eat...

it takes one Gregg's vegan sausage roll to realise you really wanted two, but it takes two Gregg's vegan sausage rolls to realise you only needed one
