    Habeeb Salloum, a Toronto-based writer who has written for Backwoods Home Magazine for the last 19 years, died unexpectedly yesterday. He was 95. He was a superb writer! His biography is here:

    LIFE IS PRECIOUS -- Wow! I started crying after I read this. I am very close to my daughter, Annie Tuttle, and she's had a couple of close calls, including a car accident in which she almost drove over a cliff. A tree saved her.

    We took our baths outdoors in a container once used to haul fish to market, after heating our water in an old bathtub I placed atop rocks around a campfire in front of the porch.
