Idea (courtesy of @khyperia ):
Don’t use a FizzBuzz test to judge basic computer science knowledge in an interview, use it to judge how nervous/uncomfortable the candidate is with that kind of interviewing style.

I like this. If you’re looking for basic skills, you will build a basic team. But if you optimize for exceptionalism, you should get exceptional coverage and a net exceptional team that can cover the bases averagely.
-
Also you're almost definitely not interviewing people that have the exact skillset you need. You want to be looking for what they have learned in the past that they got really good at. Indicates how far their skills will grow on the job at your company.

Awwwww yeah!

Even that feels a bit adversarial to me. When I interview I try to see how the candidate would feel working with us, by asking or commenting, same way I would do with a coworker. Chat, ask a bit about technical interests, hobbies, approach to problems

I like FizzBuzz bc it's a perfect playground for over-engineering. Like, How would you make it testable? Beyond junior level there's no point testing whether they know to start with i % 15 == 0.

I love this idea. I am not sure how to implement it though.
